About

KEVIN WUN PONG YEUNG
Kevin is a harpsichordist, a recorder player, and a piano teacher with a deep passion for early music. He is currently based in Quebec City, Canada.Kevin began his musical journey at the age of five with his first instrument, the melodica. A few months later, he started piano lessons, which continued throughout his early years in Hong Kong and later in France, where he pursued further studies. During his piano training, his professor frequently introduced him to Baroque repertoire—a genre Kevin deeply loved and which also happened to be his professor’s own specialty. This formative experience strongly shaped Kevin’s musical direction.Following the completion of his ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, UK) Grade 8 diplomas in Music Theory and Practical Piano, Kevin transitioned his focus toward the rigorous study of early music. He remains actively engaged in professional development, pursuing advanced harpsichord studies , Early Music Theory (e.g. Solmization) with an emphasis on historical performance, Partimento tradition. With the aim of developing his own Baroque ensemble, Kevin founded Folia Sinfonia, a small early music group in which he performs on harpsichord and recorders. In addition to keyboard instruments, Kevin is also passionate about woodwind music. During his elementary and secondary school years, he played recorder in a recorder ensemble, clarinet in a school orchestra, and sheng in a traditional Chinese orchestra. He is currently a member of a recorder ensemble in Quebec City called Sofàbec.Kevin has more than 10 years of experience teaching classical piano. He currently teaches piano at two music schools in Quebec City: Centre musical Unison and Espace sans mesure. In addition, he offers private piano lessons at his home studio.
